Volunteer

The NOLA Grannies are diverse. Our volunteers come in all sizes, ages, genders, religions, ethnicities, and political affiliations. And while we’re called ‘Grannies’ we’re not all women, and we’re not all grandmothers. We have grannies who are under 30 and granddads too. We meet three buses daily at 8:30 AM, 12:30 PM and 8:30 PM. Packing of the ‘care-kits’ we distribute usually happens on Mondays.

Volunteer trainings are held as the need arises. If you would like to volunteer and would like to schedule a one-on-one training please contact our volunteer coordinator, Beth Bochnak (bethbochnak@gmail.com).

To start the volunteer process, you can just show-up at the next announced training session (see information above) or fill out the form below which will be processed by our volunteer coordinator who will contact you with volunteer instructions. Alternatively, you can write to nolagrannies@gmail.com and the coordinator will send you information on how to volunteer and current volunteer opportunities. If you want to know more about our operation, click here.

As needed, we hold orientation and volunteer information sessions for those individuals who wish to become bus station greeters or production volunteers (called “packers and shoppers”) but desire more training and information before they do so.
